TULSA, OK – [July 9, 2018] \u2013\u00a0 The\u00a0National Association of County and City Health Officials\u00a0(NACCHO), representing the nation\u2019s nearly 3,000 local governmental health departments has elected Reggie Ivey, Chief Operating Officer for the Tulsa Health Department to its 2018-2019 Board of Directors. Ivey began his first term as a member on July 1, 2018.<\/p>\n
NACCHO is governed by a 24-member board that comprises local and tribal health officials who are elected by their peers. The Board also includes ex-officio members who represent the National Association of Counties and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.<\/p>\n
As the governing body, NACCHO\u2019s Board of Directors establishes NACCHO\u2019s strategic direction and initiatives, sets the annual legislative agenda, approves official statements of policy, ensures that annual goals are met, and provides financial oversight. The Board is NACCHO\u2019s public face, and represents members in matters of policy, public health practice, and collaboration with health partners in the public and private sectors.<\/p>\n
Ivey was appointed COO of THD in 2011.\u00a0 The local health department serves a population of approximately 600,000 in Tulsa County.\u00a0 Ivey has 26 years of public health experience serving in multiple capacities in non-profit and local public health agencies.\u00a0 With a strong commitment to public health and the community, Ivey has taken active roles in many organizations including the Oklahoma Public Health Association, Tulsa Salvation Army Advisory Board, John Hope Franklin Center for Reconciliation Board, the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma Board and, most recently, appointed by Tulsa Mayor Bynum to the Greater Tulsa African-American Affairs Commission.
