W\u00e4hrend jeder sie w\u00e4hrend COVID-19 in Aktion gesehen hat, haben diese \u201eKrankheitsdetektive\u201c schon lange vorher im Stillen Gesundheitsr\u00e4tsel gel\u00f6st \u2013 und das nicht nur in Laboren! Von der Aufkl\u00e4rung von Vorschulkindern \u00fcber das H\u00e4ndewaschen bis zur Verfolgung von Mpox-F\u00e4llen \u00fcber \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheitsnetzwerke \u2013 ihre Arbeit f\u00fchrt sie \u00fcberall hin. Und lustige Tatsache: Der Vater der Epidemiologie, John Snow, ist nicht der aus Game of Thrones \u2013 aber er hat einen Cholera-Ausbruch mit Daten und einer Wasserpumpe gestoppt!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sie kennen Epidemiologen \u2013 oder \u201eEpis\u201c \u2013 vielleicht aus ihrer wichtigen Arbeit w\u00e4hrend der COVID-19-Pandemie, als sie durch ihre Pr\u00e4senz im Fernsehen, in den sozialen Medien, im Radio und dar\u00fcber hinaus zu bekannten Namen wurden. Doch schon lange vor COVID-19 arbeiteten diese \u201eKrankheitsdetektive\u201c hinter den Kulissen, f\u00fchrten Falluntersuchungen durch, analysierten Krankheitsmuster und halfen Gemeinden, Ausbr\u00fcche zu verhindern. Einige der Pioniere dieses Fachgebiets, wie John Snow, Louis Pasteur, Joseph Lister und Robert Koch, legten durch ihre bahnbrechende Arbeit in den Bereichen Cholerapr\u00e4vention, Pasteurisierung, Antiseptika und Anthrax den Grundstein f\u00fcr die moderne Epidemiologie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heute untersuchen und verfolgen unsere Epidemiologen im Gesundheitsamt von Tulsa (THD) weiterhin Infektionskrankheiten in Oklahoma und f\u00fchren Aufkl\u00e4rungskampagnen durch, um die \u00d6ffentlichkeit aufzukl\u00e4ren und zu sch\u00fctzen. Im Jahr 2020 standen sie an vorderster Front der COVID-19-Reaktion und k\u00fcmmerten sich um Falluntersuchungen und Kontaktverfolgung, um die Ausbreitung einzud\u00e4mmen. In j\u00fcngerer Zeit spielten sie eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Reaktion auf den weltweiten Mpox-Ausbruch 2022, wo sie halfen, F\u00e4lle zu identifizieren, Gemeinden aufzukl\u00e4ren und Anleitungen zur erforderlichen zweifachen Mpox-Impfung zu geben. W\u00e4hrend Mpox-Virusvarianten auftauchen und sich die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheitssituation weiterentwickelt, bleibt unser Team wachsam, verfolgt Trends und bereitet sich auf eine wirksame Reaktion vor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au\u00dferhalb der Reaktion auf Ausbr\u00fcche sind unsere Epidemiologen das ganze Jahr \u00fcber engagiert, leiten Aufkl\u00e4rungsveranstaltungen f\u00fcr die Bev\u00f6lkerung, besuchen Schulen und halten Pressekonferenzen, um sicherzustellen, dass die Bev\u00f6lkerung \u00fcber aktuelle Gesundheitsrisiken informiert ist.
