TULSA, OK – [January 27, 2017] \u2013\u00a0When it comes to wellness, it is all about leading by example. Today kicks off the fourth annual Healthy Executive contest. The contest is designed to recognize the top company executives who support their company\u2019s worksite wellness policies and programs while maintaining their own personal commitment to health and wellness. This dedication provides both the inspiration and the opportunity for their employees to pursue wellness.<\/p>\n
Individuals who hold the rank of an executive or in senior management (VP, COO, CFO) for a company in Tulsa County can be nominated as a Healthy Executive, whether that be a senior vice president who is an avid cyclist or a chief operating officer who packs a healthy lunch daily. The nomination period will close February 28 at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany people spend most of their day sitting at a desk or inside an office. A workplace health program aimed at keeping employees healthy is a key long-term human asset management strategy,\u201d said Vanessa Hall-Harper, manager of the TSET Healthy Living Program serving Tulsa County. \u201cSenior executives have the opportunity and responsibility to lead the way for wellness within their company and community.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cCompany productivity, growth and employee health are interdependent. When an employee feels valued and supported with regards to his or her own health and well-being, the entire company benefits,\u201d said Dr. Bruce Dart, Tulsa Health Department executive director.<\/p>\n
Previous winners of the Healthy Executive challenge include Paula Marshall, chief executive officer of the Bama Companies; Dave Darcey, vice president of strategic development at Williams; Philip Kurtz, chief executive officer at CareATC; Dave Crowell, vice president of finance at Enovation Controls; Mark A. Gray, executive director for Inverness Village; and Bob Peterson, president of Melton Truck Lines.<\/p>\n
The 2017 Healthy Executive Challenge is sponsored by the Tulsa Health Department and the TSET Healthy Living Program serving Tulsa County.<\/p>\n

\nThe TSET Healthy Living Program serving Tulsa county is a grant-funded program which seeks to prevent and reduce tobacco use and obesity by working with businesses, cities and governments, schools, and community institutions and organizations, to help make the healthy choice the easy choice.
