Muchas veces la gente piensa en desastres naturales como huracanes y tornados que causan una amenaza a la seguridad de las personas, pero el COVID-19 llev\u00f3 a la Epidemiolog\u00eda al frente de un brote de enfermedades infecciosas que afect\u00f3 a millones de personas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cu\u00e1l es el&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tulsa-health.org\/es\/community-health\/community-programs\/emergency-preparedness\/\">Programa de respuesta y planificaci\u00f3n de emergencias (EPRP)<\/a>?&nbsp;<\/strong><br>El EPRP se cre\u00f3 despu\u00e9s del ataque con \u00e1ntrax a los Estados Unidos en 2001. El pa\u00eds vio que exist\u00eda una extrema necesidad de procedimientos y protocolos de seguridad para garantizar una comunicaci\u00f3n adecuada para una gesti\u00f3n eficiente. El programa de emergencia del Departamento de Salud de Tulsa ha sido un pilar clave en muchas emergencias de salud p\u00fablica, como desastres naturales, H1N1, Mpox, y fue fundamental en el manejo de COVID-19 para mantener a los residentes del condado de Tulsa lo m\u00e1s seguros posible. El prop\u00f3sito espec\u00edfico del equipo EPRP es &quot;proporcionar planificaci\u00f3n, capacitaci\u00f3n y establecer preparaci\u00f3n para responder a los efectos de posibles emergencias, ya sean desastres naturales o provocados por el hombre&quot;. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lo m\u00e1s destacado del EPRP: Kamalei Emler, coordinadora de extensi\u00f3n comunitaria&nbsp;<\/strong><br>\u201cEl Programa de Preparaci\u00f3n y Respuesta a Emergencias (EPRP) es responsable de mantener planes que garanticen una respuesta eficaz y eficiente a las emergencias de salud p\u00fablica en el condado de Tulsa. Mi trabajo como coordinador de extensi\u00f3n comunitaria es desarrollar asociaciones con agencias comunitarias para garantizar que existan acuerdos para proteger a la poblaci\u00f3n durante una emergencia de salud p\u00fablica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando estaba en la universidad, tom\u00e9 una clase llamada Manejo de Emergencias, donde aprendimos sobre algunos de los desastres m\u00e1s grandes que nuestro pa\u00eds y el mundo hayan visto jam\u00e1s. Me fascin\u00f3 saber cu\u00e1n resilientes eran las comunidades y c\u00f3mo respondieron a los eventos, ya fueran desastres naturales o provocados por el hombre. Disfruto de la imprevisibilidad del campo y del sentido de camarader\u00eda para servir a la comunidad en momentos de necesidad. Mi pasi\u00f3n surgi\u00f3 de esa clase y no ha hecho m\u00e1s que crecer desde que me un\u00ed al EPRP\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo trabaja el equipo de Epidemiolog\u00eda con el EPRP?<\/strong><br>COVID-19 fue un ejemplo perfecto de ello, ya que al equipo de Epi se le asign\u00f3 la tarea de investigar casos, rastrear contactos, realizar pruebas y actividades de vacunas, y monitorear brotes, lo que cont\u00f3 con la ayuda de la planificaci\u00f3n y los procedimientos del equipo EPRP. Si bien el equipo del EPRP ten\u00eda el protocolo y las habilidades organizativas para vacunar masivamente a los residentes y reducir la propagaci\u00f3n de la COVID-19, el equipo de Epi ten\u00eda la experiencia en materia de control y prevenci\u00f3n de infecciones.
