Testing Clinic
\nAs of 4:00 p.m. today, 176 people have presented for testing \u00a0for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV at the Tulsa Health Department\u2019s special screening clinic at the North Regional Health and Wellness Center, 5635 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The clinic is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be open this Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
Following last week\u2019s announcement regarding a public health investigation into the infection control practices of Tulsa oral surgeon W. Scott Harrington, about 1,700 persons have visited the clinic to be screened and have their blood drawn for testing.<\/p>\n
Most people will be notified of their test results within approximately two weeks of blood draw. Patients who have given the health department permission to mail negative test results to their home will receive their results in the mail. Anyone who has a positive test result will be contacted personally by a health department representative and counseled about information specific to the disease for which the test was positive. The health department will also begin an individual case investigation in an effort to determine when and how the person became infected. Recommendations for testing of a spouse or partner will be made following the outcome of the case investigation.<\/p>\n

Scott Harrington\u2019s dental practice should contact the hotline918-595-4500 to speak to a public health representative about testing for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. English- and Spanish-speaking public health representatives will be available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays.<\/p>\n
The hotline has received 119 phone calls as of 4 p.m. The hotline has received 2,846 phone calls since the investigation was announced.<\/p>\n
