El evento se llevar\u00e1 a cabo el viernes 10 de agosto a las 11:00 am en la Iglesia Bautista Southwood, ubicada en 10110 East 41st Street en Tulsa. Aproximadamente 100 mujeres locales participan en el evento cada a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>El tema de la celebraci\u00f3n de este a\u00f1o es Apoyar la lactancia materna: es responsabilidad de todos, que se centra en la importancia de apoyar a las madres que eligen amamantar. Apoyar la lactancia materna es importante para las madres y sus beb\u00e9s, as\u00ed como para los empleadores, la comunidad y el medio ambiente. Cada d\u00eda que una mam\u00e1 amamanta es un d\u00eda m\u00e1s de mejor salud tanto para la mam\u00e1 como para el beb\u00e9. La Academia Estadounidense de Pediatr\u00eda recomienda que los beb\u00e9s reciban solo leche materna (sin f\u00f3rmula, alimentos ni agua) durante los primeros seis meses de vida, con lactancia materna continua y la adici\u00f3n de alimentos complementarios hasta por un a\u00f1o o m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p>Muchas mujeres que quisieran amamantar toman la decisi\u00f3n de no amamantar o destetar precozmente, debido a la necesidad de volver a trabajar. Seg\u00fan datos recientes del Departamento de Salud del Estado de Oklahoma, el 74,6 por ciento de las madres de Oklahoma amamantan inicialmente, pero s\u00f3lo el 34,9 por ciento contin\u00faan amamantando durante seis meses o m\u00e1s. Muchas mujeres que deciden no amamantar citan como motivo el regreso al trabajo o a la escuela. Continuar amamantando despu\u00e9s de regresar al trabajo puede ser un desaf\u00edo para muchas madres trabajadoras, y tener un lugar de trabajo que las apoye puede afectar la decisi\u00f3n de la madre sobre si continuar amamantando o no durante el primer a\u00f1o de su beb\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Los lugares de trabajo que brindan un entorno de apoyo pueden ayudar a aliviar el estr\u00e9s y ayudar a las madres a sentirse bien con su decisi\u00f3n de combinar el trabajo y la lactancia&quot;, dijo el Dr. Bruce Dart, director del Departamento de Salud de Tulsa. &quot;Un entorno donde se apoye la lactancia materna alentar\u00e1 a las mujeres a alcanzar sus objetivos de lactancia&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma cuenta con un programa para reconocer los lugares de trabajo que han cumplido con los criterios para ser amigables con la lactancia materna.
