TULSA, OK \u2013 [July 14, 2020] \u2013 The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) announced today a significant change for Vital Records and its customers across the state. The agency is moving from an outdated ordering system to an online service that is more user friendly and consistent with other contemporary public services.<\/p>\n
This change is necessary to protect Vital Records\u2019 most vulnerable customers by reducing their risk of exposure to COVID-19. It also provides customers with a convenient way to access a range of services, including ordering birth and death certificates, with more affordable rates.<\/p>\n
In addition to faster service, Oklahoma residents will notice a significant drop in the cost of various services. Vital Records is now able to provide lower convenience fees for online and phone orders due to collaborative efforts with its online partners. Parents and legal guardians can request vital records electronically at Birth and Death Records. Requests will be processed within two business days.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Vital Records office located at the Tulsa Health Department James O. Goodwin Health Center has been closed to the public during the pandemic, and will resume limited in-person services by appointment only starting July 15. Customers can schedule an appointment by calling 405-271-4040 or visiting www.tulsa-health.org\/birth-death-records.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are committed to protecting the health and safety of our clients and staff, and encourage residents to utilize the online and phone service to request their records,\u201d said THD Chief Operating Officer Reggie Ivey. \u201cThe new system will reduce the number of clients in the waiting area and provide convenient access to important records for our residents.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Clients seeking Vital Records at the James O. Goodwin Health Center site will need to make an appointment before arrival and must wear a face covering to enter the building. Measures have been temporarily modified to limit potential exposure for clients and staff while practicing social distancing. Health officials ask clients not to enter the building if sick or have a temperature above 100.4. Vital Records visitors, limited to two individuals per visit, are to enter in the Main North Doors through a triage station.\u00a0<\/p>\n
