Free Responsible Beverage Service and Sales Training June 3rd

TULSA, OK – [May 19, 2014] – The Tulsa Health Department’s Regional Prevention Coordinator (RPC) program, in partnership with the Oklahoma Prevention Policy Alliance and the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, is hosting a free Responsible Beverage Service and Sales Training (RBSS) for clerks, servers, and managers of local businesses on Tuesday, June 3rd.

Training will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tulsa Health Department’s James O. Goodwin Health Center, 5051 S. 129th E. Ave., in the auditorium room 200. There is no cost to participate for the licensee or employee of any retail establishment, restaurant or bar that would like to send personnel.

The purpose of the training is to provide managers, bartenders and waiters with the knowledge and skills to serve alcohol safely, responsibly and legally. The training also serves to ensure that expectations, liabilities and legal responsibilities are communicated to all licensees and their employees.

“It is our hope that through continued education and training, we will reduce the rates of underage drinking and create a unified environment of responsible hospitality and alcohol sales throughout Tulsa County,” said RPC Coordinator Marianne Long.

Regional Prevention Coordinator (RPC) is a grant funded program established to reduce the rates for underage drinking, adult binge drinking, and the non-medical use of painkillers within Tulsa County.  The work of RPC is concentrated on population-level change in Tulsa County by assisting communities in determining the substance abuse problems affecting their constituents and the most effective strategies to address these problems. RPC works with local coalitions and stakeholders to gather data, track trends, and provide training and technical assistance within the community.  Additionally, RPC provides support for town hall meetings and assists with local alcohol and tobacco compliance operations. Click here for more information regarding RBSS trainings or the Regional Prevention Coordinator program at the Tulsa Health Department.

Clerks, servers and managers interested in participating in the training should contact Regional Prevention Specialist Clayton Tselee at (918) 595-4513 or ctselee@tulsa-health.org. Pre-registration is not required but is encouraged to ensure a spot.
