THD is one of two autonomous local health departments in Oklahoma, with statutory public health jurisdiction throughout Tulsa County and the City of Tulsa. THD was among the first health departments in the U.S. to receive national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board.

THD offers a variety of public health internships and practicums. Our clinics, health promotion, outreach programs and environmental health programs can offer experiential learning opportunities to meet the requirements of an internship or practicum, as well as provide a hands-on approach to learning about public health. We work with students who need to complete an internship and/or observation hours as a degree requirement.
THD will make every effort to place students, however, internships are not guaranteed and are based upon availability and the needs of THD.
