February is National Children’s Dental Health Month

It’s important to develop good dental hygiene at an early age to help children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health.

Talk to your kids about the importance of regular brushing and flossing. Try to limit snacks and sugary drinks like soda. Instead, reach for nutritious foods like milk, fresh vegetables, fruit, or cheese. Don’t chew on pencils or hold them in your mouth.

THD provides preventative dental care and treatment of dental-related conditions for Tulsa County children who are uninsured or have minimal benefits. Services include dental examinations and cleanings, fluoride treatments, and the use of sealants, as well as fillings, crowns, endodontics and, when necessary, extractions. Dental services are available by appointment. A parent or guardian must be present.

THD Dental Services now accepts SoonerCare (Medicaid). THD dental services for children are available at the Central Regional Health Center (Map), 315 S. Utica, in Tulsa. For more information, please call 918-594-4860.
