TULSA, OKLA – [February 16, 2024] – The Tulsa Health Department has partnered with the Stop DUI Task Force and Mothers Against Drunk Driving to host a mocktail mixer at Elote Café, 514 South Boston Avenue. The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase customized mocktails crafted specially by the staff at Elote Café & Catering. Community partners from the Stop DUI Task Force will be present with resources and information to prevent alcohol abuse.
“We’re excited to partner with Mothers Against Drunk Driving for this family-friendly, fun-filled evening,” said THD prevention Specialist Kandice Lawson. “We hope we can continue to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving, while providing fun and delicious non-alcoholic beverage choices. Whether you’re a fan of fruity flavors or prefer a tangy twist, Elote’s talented mixologists will create the perfect mocktail to suit your taste buds.”
According to the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, there were 150 alcohol-related crashes in Tulsa County in 2021, resulting in 33 people being killed.
Health officials encourage the community to explore delicious mocktails as alternatives to alcohol, and if you do consume alcohol to find a safe ride instead of choosing to drive.
The StopDUI Task Force recently joined forces with the THD substance abuse prevention program to host a Valentine’s Day mocktail tutorial on Facebook Live. Complete recipes and a link to the video are available on the Tulsa Health Department blog.
